Walt Roberts has been referred to as a “Renaissance Man.”
born in southeastern Oklahoma in the heart of “Little Dixie.” Cattle ranching country, and in the middle of the Choctaw Nation. Walt was raised a cowboy by cowboys, and spent a good bit of his life horseback.
He started playing fiddle at the age of eleven years old, spurred on by his grand dad. At thirteen he had his own bluegrass band. He soon found a full time job at the age of sixteen in Branson Missouri with the Baldknobber Hillbilly Jamboree, and then with The Ozark Opry in Osage Beach Missouri.
In 1986 Walt was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives at the age of Twenty Four, one of the youngest ever to serve and served three Terms.
Walt left Oklahoma and came to San Antonio Texas to become the executive of the Texas simmental/simbrah cattle association in 1992.
Walt is a professional auctioneer and taught at the Missouri Auction school for six years, and still sells auctions today. Walt’s love for music has lead him to play with some of the greatest American music icons, such as Bob Will’s former Texas playboys, Asleep at the Wheel, Mac Wiseman and many Others in the bluegrass and country music genre.
Walt continues to play and record fiddle, guitar and sings. He recently recorded a bluegrass CD titled “Wayfaring Stranger” with a group of great musicians such as Wood and Wire and banjo legend Alan Munde.
Walt’s passion for cowboying, roping and riding never left him, he is a single steer roper, and tie down ropes, and continues to spend as much time as possible horseback.
Walt is a western artist, sculptor and has worked along side of the greatest American Cowboy artist today, such as Mehl Lawson, Bruce green, grant speed and others.
Walt has a great passion for acting and has been cast in principal supporting roles in several major feature films and television series such as Parkland, Hellion, The left overs,
Queen sugar,Walker Texas ranger and others.
Walt is currently living and working as an actor/musician and Serving as a Assistant Commissioner for the Texas Department of Agriculture, in Austin, TX.
